VEGEPOLYS

VEGEPOLYS, a global competitive cluster in specialized plants

A competitive cluster is a group of companies, research centres, and training organisations in a given region who get together for innovative projects that strengthen members’ competitiveness.

VEGEPOLYS is located in the Pays de la Loire region and brings together 8 branches of the specialist plant field:

  • Ornamental horticulture
  • Fruit & vegetables
  • seeds
  • viticulture
  • medicinal and aromatic plants
  • mushrooms
  • cider apples
  • tobacco

The cluster brings together companies involved directly and indirectly in plant growing with trade associations, unions, and development bodies as well as local chambers of trade and commerce.

Its goal is to become a world reference for innovation in the world of plants.

Further information :

Competitive clusters are based on innovation. This is one of the greatest factors in improving competitiveness, and is even more effective when those involved get together in common projects.

A competitiveness cluster defines a combination of companies, public or private research centres, and training centres engaged in a partnership initiative centred on common projects. These partnerships enable optimum conditions to be created for conquering new markets and achieving international visibility.

In autumn 2004, the government launched an overall initiative to this end. By July, 2005, 66 clusters had received endorsement, 6 of them worldwide clusters and 9 with worldwide reach, including VEGEPOLYS.
