La Chambre régionale d'agriculture des Pays de la Loire (Pays de la Loire regional Chamber of Agriculture)
A tool sized to match the needs of a major agricultural region
The Pays de la Loire region Chamber of Agriculture is an assembly of elected representatives and specialists from a broad range of disciplines serving the whole of the farming profession; it is both a representative structure and a development tool on the scale of the region.
Representating farming
Its regional scope gives it a good grasp of agricultural issues and enable it to give direction on both economic and land use issues. The regional Chamber of Agriculture positions itself at the interface between the world of farming and the local, national, and international bodies involved in agriculture – Regional Council, Government, European Union. It keeps a constant watch on agricultural policy and carries out any economic studies required to defend the interests of farmers and food processing businesses in the region.
Project creator and coordinator
The second mission of the regional Chamber of Agriculture is to compile projects, raise the necessary finances, and run these projects in collaboration with the trade and branch organisations to help farmers adapt: training, investment aid, research programmes, technical support.
Service provider
The regional Chamber's last remit is to directly intervene with food processing businesses in the region by carrying out economic forecast studies and helping export initiatives.
The Pays de la Loire region is a land with a great tradition of farming and has a first class reputation in many areas: livestock rearing, viticulture, orchardry, horticulture, etc. The regional Chamber of Agriculture is on a scale to match this, a multidisciplinary tool at the service of a whole profession.
